Welcome to Shepherd's Door Children's Center

The Children's Center is a vibrant department of the Portland Rescue Mission designed to facilitate the ongoing safety, healing and growth of our youngest clientele.

Shepherd's Door Children's Center is a state certified childcare facility, staffed with highly qualified, nurturing adults whose only aim is to see each child reach their full potential.

The Children's Center's core services include:

• Children who live at Shepherd's Door are enrolled in the Children's Center, attending their own classes, while mom goes to classes herself.
• The Extended Care program offers all day child care to moms who have successfully completed Shepherd's Door's long-term recovery program and are working outside the home.
• Partnering with parents is an essential part of the Children's Center. Staff come along side parents who are seeking to regain custody of their children, offer parenting classes and meet regularly with parents to help them build and use healthy parenting skills.
